Our History

Green Wave Medical was founded by Dr. Winslow Engel in 2015 when he saw the overwhelming need for alternative solutions to chronic pain and other debilitating medical conditions in our leeward community. Originally making house calls, Dr. Engel quickly grew his vision into a small practice in Waianae.

In 2019, Dr. Engel retired from Green Wave Medical and turned the business over to Elizabeth Holgate, a friend and business colleague, who, in turn, hired providers to continue care for Dr. Engel’s patients.

Although a lot has changed, our energy and passion for our patients remains the same! We believe that, in many cases, the benefits of medical marijuana outweigh the risks when it is used legally and responsibly. It is our mission to make cannabis available as medication to all qualified patients in need.

Christina Lewis, DNP, APRN, FNP-C

Christina is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a passion for preventative care and serving the local community. She was born and raised on O'ahu and graduated from Punahou School, followed by New York University, Kapiolani CC for Respiratory Care, then University of Massachusetts Medical School's Graduate School of Nursing. 

As a Nurse Practitioner, she has worked for several years in hospice and primary care. Through these roles, she has seen so many people who would have benefited from medical cannabis that didn’t have access. She hopes that by working at Green Wave Medical, she may connect those with qualifying conditions to medical cannabis, thereby helping to eliminate unnecessary pain and discomfort.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, both outdoors hiking and hanging out on the couch. She lives with her husband, daughter, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. 

Victoria Habibi, APRN, FNP-C

Victoria Habibi is a licensed nurse practitioner who has been a valued member of the Green Wave Medical team since 2019. She’s a patient favorite! Victoria is passionate about the benefits of cannabis and strongly believes in its medicinal qualities to help patients with complicated medical conditions, chronic pain, and psychological disorders. Victoria also works as a family nurse practitioner at the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center. Outside of work, she loves to surf, hike, compete in Olympic weightlifting, CrossFit, and take care of her three dogs. She is devoted to helping the people of this community and loves getting to know her patients!

Elizabeth Holgate, MBA

Liz Holgate is the owner/operator of Green Wave Medical and works periodically as a business consultant. Most recently, she has worked with the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center to help develop and implement the Integrated Pain Management program. Liz holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Western Illinois University and has lived in Waianae since 2012. 

Liz is passionate about helping people with chronic and/or complicated medical conditions find alternative treatments that carry fewer and less severe side effects than traditional prescription medications. She manages all administrative functions for the office and loves working with patients!
